Beginning Your Search for Irish Ancestors
This course is designed to identify available sources in Ireland and online to enable you to make a start in finding your Irish ancestors. A review of family papers, public documents and other sources of identifying information about the immigrant ancestor are provided. An examination of Irish civil church and census records are offered, along with research strategies in Irish records available online. Under current Irish law, any person who can prove that a grandparent was born in Ireland may claim Irish citizenship. We will also review the documents needed to apply for an Irish passport.
